Taolyt - the TASER X3 is a tool that provides options and not necessarily a replacement for any of the other tools available to officers. Past handheld TASER technology have been a single shot device. With the X3 there are option to confront multiple suspects or attackers with either the multi-shoot and/or the drive stun feature where the device can be directly applied to a subject.

You asked about four suspects, it is extremely rare for one officer to engage four suspects at once. Officers are trained to avoid such situations. However, it can happen and officers must plan and prepare for such an event, using all the resources available to them.

As promised, I wanted to get back to all the great questions regarding the new multi-shot TASER X3.

Andy asked about the weight in reference to the M series and the X26. Andy, the answer to your question is the weight of an ADVANCED TASER® M26™ is 19.2 ounces versus the triple-shot TASER® X3™ at 23 ounces.

Sgt. D, you asked about the different cycle lengths of the X3. I’ll do my best to explain it. If subject #1 gets hit with the X3 and than subject #2 gets hit 4 seconds later, #1 will get the first 4 seconds of their 5 second ride, but then when #2 gets hit, subject #1’s initial hit stops and gets the “Re-energize” of subject #2’s hit. So in that case, subject #1 will go for 9 seconds (4 second from the initial hit, plus 5 seconds from subject #2). Let’s say after 2 seconds of subject #1 receiving a hit, subject #2 and #3 receive hits as well. #1 will feel the effects for 7 seconds and #2 and #3 will receive 5 seconds.

Another component to the X3 is that there are three different modes to operate the system: Semi-automatic, manual or training mode.

For more information on the X3, check out www.TASERX3.com.

Question regarding the weight. Cops have a lot to carry these days. How much does the x3 weigh vs say an m18 / x26 / or other products

Great question, very astute and we're glad it "sparked" your interest. You were smart to catch one of the special TASER X3 modes, but the details can't be released until July 27... sorry for the need for patience, but we'll let you know the correct answer next week.

After reading the comments regarding the length of the cycle for the first target (8 seconds). I had a burning question of my own: Lets say you deploy on target #1 and after 4 seconds you have to deploy on a second and third target. Does the first target then receive an addition 8 seconds??
