I work for the Republic County Sheriff's Officer as a correction officer. I'm a posse member with the sheriff's office but not deputized. I'm authorized to purchase equipment requiring proof of employment. Would that mean that I can purchase a X3 for personal use?

Thanks for your comments, Chris. We actually haven’t forgotten our roots, and in fact, continue to invest in new consumer products and services. We are launching a new consumer site this month, and analysis of a consumer X3 is underway. Personal self-defense needs differ from law enforcement, which is why the C2 has a 30 second charge cycle instead of 5 seconds like our LE versions. We are looking at what other modifications, if any, are needed to provide the best personal safety options. Rest assured, TASER International remains committed to our consumer base. 2010 will bring some very exciting developments in ECDs as well as other consumer-oriented products and services.

Again, Taser has forgotten its roots! There is no reason a consumer shouldn't be able to purchase the Taser X3.

You are restricting life saving advancements to law enforcement only. Doesn't make sense. I can go get a semi-auto gun but not an X3?? I don't want guns! I want the latest, safest technological advancement that can save my life, my families, or someone else. Why on earth have you modified your policies and limit the newest to law enforcement only???

Joe, I know you have been waiting for sometime on the answer to your pricing question, well here goes. The US list price is $1799, but there will be trade-in programs with $300-$800 credits are available to law enforcement agencies.

Another great question! Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to answer that question until we release the TASER X3, which will take place next week. Stay tuned…
