IACP and Taser officials said they found nothing wrong with the gift, saying the contribution — the largest-ever to the association foundation — would provide funds to families of officers killed in the line of duty. Law enforcement and criminal justice analysts said the donation raises questions about the IACP's ability to engage in future reviews involving the technology and whether the contribution represented a de-facto endorsement. "When you accept that kind of donation, you create an impression that you view the product favorably,'' said Jim Pasco of the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation's largest police union. "There is an appearance issue here.'' Samuel Walker, a University of Nebraska criminologist who has written extensively on police accountability issues, said the relationship "raises serious concerns." "It's like a non-profit (group) taking funds from the tobacco industry and being involved in studies on smoking and lung cancer,'' he said.

the same Court of Appeals found that in two situations involving Taser use, one in Drive Stun and one in dart mode, officers had used excessive force. According to an article in Police Chief magazine, this decision implies guidelines for the use of Tasers and other Electronic Control Devices in gaining compliance (in a setting where safety is not an issue), including that the officer must give warning before each application, and that the suspect must be capable of compliance, with enough time to consider a warning, and to recover from the extreme pain of any prior application of the Taser; nor should Tasers be used on children, the elderly, and women who are visibly pregnant or inform the officer of their pregnancy.

One major benefit of using tasers is that they are easy to learn how to operate which is ideal for those who do not have much time to spare. Other self defense methods may require you several days to learn such as martial arts and combat sports but that is not the case with these weapons. Another good thing is that they are very handy so you can easily carry them wherever you may go as certain models can even fit in your pockets or purse.
<a href="https://smartstun.com/TASER-M26C-wLaser--BlackYellow_p_57.html" rel="nofollow">TASER M26C</a>
They also come in different sizes, designs, and colors if you want to be more fashionable with them. The price range of taser guns is also generally cheap and they are very accessible. You can purchase them from several shops or can just order them online if you want it to be more convenient. Modern versions of taser guns have also been manufactured to be safer and more efficient. They also do not cause permanent damage not like the use of firearms or other types of weapons. There are many situations wherein the attacker could be subdued without causing permanent injury to them.

Christa,I just discovered your woefnrdul resource here while doing research for a site I'm developing, PoliceDepartment.org. I am VERY interested in local LE's adoption and use of social media. A big part of what I'm planning to achieve with some of the core features on the site is bridging that gap between:1.) Local LE's need for being available online to the community without exposing the Department to the risks inherent in social media, and2.) the civilian's desire to stay informed and connected to local police in a world where complete openness, instant access and immediate feedback is expected.I'd love to chat with you sometime about how best to strike that balance. I'm on twitter @policedept and you have my email address. I'd also encourage your readers to take our very brief survey to tell us what they'd like to see at PoliceDepartment.org/survey.Thanks again for a fantastic resource! Sean

Aloha Christa,I think there's enuff stuff Google has on me that the readers jest need to scearh for Chris Duque HPD Honolulu . Anything that's positive IS me! All the negative postings refer to some other guy with my name. All kidding aside, I'm a retired Detective from Honolulu Police Department. I got out 3mos short of 30years. My last 22years was as a detective in Criminal Investigation Division. My first 6yrs was working in the Vice Division, semi-undercover. You can do the math and realize I have very little Uniform Patrol time.I got drawn into computer forensics and cyber-investigations in 1990 and never regretted the move.BTW, there's no such thing as retirement' if you live in Hawaii! . And worse if you've spent most of your adult life working the streets as a cop, it's very, very hard to hang it up.So, what do I do now? Some computer forensics, some cyber-investigations.Lotsa presentations to kids, parents, teachers, and seniors about cybersafety. And recently, working with Hawaii police officers wanting to enhance their effectiveness in their Community Policing endeavors using social media/networking.And taking life one step at a time Mahalos & Be Safe!

And I thought soemone ELSE had cornered the market on STUPID .Police Officers are in the UNIQUE position of having a job where they ENFORCE the LAW. That is why they have to have guns, and tasers, and power, and authority. We have asked them to keep our streets SAFE, from an increasingly violent criminal element. Yes, there MAY be some police officers who abuse their authority, but stop, and really try to THINK for just a moment, What would life be like WITHOUT police officers?
