How to Buy More Time With a TASER device

As a TASER consumer, it is important to understand how to use your device and stay safe in the event of an attack.

In the event of an attack, TASER's Safe Escape Product Replacement Guarantee allows you to leave your TASER device behind. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you must leave your device in order to protect yourself, contact TASER Self-Defense and we may be able to replace the device free of charge*.

What if I need more than 30 seconds?
In some cases you may not be able to immediately remove yourself from a threat and may need additional time after successfully deploying your TASER device. Each cartridge can only be fired once, but may deliver multiple electrical cycles. That means that while the device can only deploy probes downrange once, subsequent electrical cycles can be engaged. In this case, you may pull the trigger on your TASER Pulse or Bolt after each 30-second cycle to deliver another 30-second electrical cycle (5 seconds for TASER X2 and X26P devices).

This feature helps a person buy extra time that may help them stay safe in the event of an attack. However, it is important to remember that the probes must maintain good contact with the target in order to achieve neuro muscular incapacitation. This is an important consideration when reengaging a target that has already been hit by a TASER device. In order to deliver additional cycles of electricity down the wires and into the target after the initial deployment, probes must remain in contact with the target. If one or both probes have become disengaged from the target, the TASER device will not be able to cause neuro muscular incapacitation. In this case, do what you can to escape, and remember that your TASER device also has a drive-stun feature.
